Nidd Lane, Birtswith - Wednesday 23rd July 2014

For our final stint at this location we had a team of eight.  Richard H and Tony worked on the downhill stretch, whilst  Barry, Catriona, Chris, Paul, Richard P and Roger put the finishing touches to the main section.

The downhill wall problem to be resolved

Barry displays his skill at controlling inquisitive cows
(always carry a small gate when walking near cattle)

Richard wonders where the last topper is coming from to complete the downhill section

Catronia thinks she has found the final topper for the mid section

A team meeting takes place to decide who will place the final stone

Nidd lane, Birstwith - Wednesday 16th July 2014

A goodly number of wallers turned out to wall on a fair to middling day, which got really rather breezy towards the close of play.

Chris and Graham continued Tony's downhill stretch of wall but were as puzzled as Tony by the correct solution to the problem of a large tree which meets with the wall in a mutually exclusive spatial quandary... ... They left the resolution to the problem for next weeks saps workers.

Richard H. and Rod continued and completed the western part of the wall directly to the east of the gate. They then went on to hinder help Chris and Graham.

This left Richard P. , Barry, Paul and Roger to get on with the main section of the wall unimpeded. They put on a good show of it but didn't manage to finish things off. So it's back to Birstwith for a final stint next Wednesday.

Nidd Lane, Birtswith - Wednesday 9 July 2014

Back with a team of five to continue the gapping process. With the “eastern” section now completed, Catriona and Roger got to work on the “mid” section .  Richard (the Younger) and Roderick tackled the “western” section, whilst Tony did some foundation work on the downhill section next to the gate post.

The downhill wall foundations become clearer (well nearly)

The “western” section starts to rise up

Lunch break - but who has let the fire go out ?
