Return to the Hall

Another late start to avoid the rain saw Barry and I return to the Old Park Pale. Various trees have been removed as well as the telephone pole, so things are looking a bit different. We managed a couple of courses before the rain came at 2.30 ish.
Next week we can take down another section which will mark a transition back to cobbles in the front of the wall, although they do seem to have been shaped (very nicely) rather than just used straight from the fields.

How we left it last time

 The next section

 The removed tree stumps
The telephone pole as was

Toppers and dripping noses

Starting at 10.30 Barry and I arrived at Brookside Farm on a very cold day with a lovely bit of mist in the air. Our noses turning red we shaped the remaining stones into something resembling toppers and plonked them atop the wall. after a quick site tidy we were away just after one.

Steps

Barry, Catriona, Graham and I slithered up the trackway to do a bit more walling. Another week will be needed to get the toppers on.

Graham and I went on a wander to have a look at the long-house/ Barn and grain store. The grain store is in a bit of a state and has collapsed on one side. The barn is still in pretty good order thought the roof needs a bit of TLC

Wet

Just three intrepid wallers, Chris, Val and Graham who defied the threat of heavy rain and had a reasonable day ; a bit muddy but OK for walling. Another two courses completed before leaving early afternoon just before the heavy rain arrived
